You pay for the hours you talk with the tutor. Everything else is free.

2 hours of voice a month.
Plus
8 hours of voice a month, about $2.50 an hour.
Max
40 hours of voice a month, about $2.50 an hour.
A human tutor charges $30 to $60 an hour. On Max, an hour with Understand is about $2.50.
Only voice is counted: the minutes you are in a call with the tutor. Reading articles aloud, bookmarks, recommendations and typed chat are unlimited on every plan.
When a month’s hours run out, voice stops until the next month starts and typing goes on. There are no extra charges. Cancel any time in Settings; the plan runs to the end of the month you paid for.
Plans are bought on the web, at app.understandtutor.com. The iPhone app uses the same account and the same hours.
